  • Calvalus - ESTHub’s contractual processing portal for large‑scale satellite data processing. A CPU‑based computing environment that integrates satellite data, computing resources, and processing workflows. Accessible via a graphical user interface or through the Linux command line.

To use JupyterHub and XCube, you must have a Keycloak user account. This account allows you to log in to the COPSI, JupyterHub, and XCube environments.

JupyterHub - a working environment for remote‑sensing analyses, where you can run scripts and create prototypes. It is a more flexible and user‑friendly environment but offers smaller computing resources. By default, raw data access is provided. Connections to external data sources and custom environments can be set up with administrator approval and assistance, generally within 5 working days.

There are two user groups in JupyterHub. By default, users are added to the standard group. The user group can be changed if needed - either proactively (if you select Premium here) or when resource limitations arise. The difference between the groups is in RAM:

    • Standard – RAM 5 GB

    • Premium – RAM 10 GB

  • Note! GOOD PRACTICE in the JupyterHub environment: unnecessary files should not be stored in JupyterHub. Regular digital clean‑ups are performed.

XCube - a visual tool for creating and exploring satellite data time series and data cubes. Currently, two data cubes are available for testing:

    • OLCI water quality 2015–2024

    • MSI NDVI index 01.05.2024 – 31.10.2024

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

The User has the right to:

  1. Process the data contained in the ESTHub environment using the software available within the ESTHub environment. The purpose of processing may include educational activities, scientific research, research and development, or prototyping. The processing purposes do not include the long-term operation of a finished product by a private enterprise (e.g., for providing services to third parties).
  2. The user has the right to request the addition of software they have created to the Calvalus processing environment. Adding software is generally subject to a fee and is carried out under a separate agreement, except for small‑scale and short‑term solutions, for which the parties may agree on free inclusion. The provider has the right to impose limits on the amount of computing resources and processing time used by the user.
  3. Process, reproduce, print, distribute, publicly present, modify, and combine the data contained in the ESTHub environment with other data and information, in accordance with the agreement and applicable legal acts.

The User undertakes to:

  1. Not use the data obtained through ESTHub or their derivatives for purposes other than those specified in the agreement.
  2. When distributing or publicly presenting data obtained through ESTHub, indicate the source of the data and, if the data has been modified, explicitly state this (requirements and templates for references).
  3. Not make authorization credentials providing access to ESTHub available to unauthorized persons. In case the credentials fall into the hands of unauthorized persons, promptly notify the provider, who will issue a new password.
  4. Implement necessary IT measures to prevent the illegal dissemination of data. Promptly notify the provider of any unauthorized data processing incidents or attacks on the information system’s security that come to the user's attention.
  5. Immediately inform the provider of any deficiencies in the operation of ESTHub or visible data issues.
  6. Notify the provider without delay of any changes to the user’s contact information.
  7. Under the Agreement, the provider grants the user access to ESTHub services according to the selection made in the user’s registration form. The services provided under the Agreement are Calvalus, JupyterHub, and XCube. The services COPSI and Satiladu are not covered by this Agreement.

The Provider has the right to:

  1. To immediately suspend the user’s access to ESTHub services, including JupyterHub and XCube, if there is a justified suspicion of misuse of computing resources or use in violation of the Agreement, until the circumstances have been clarified, while notifying the user of the suspension without delay at the email address specified in the user’s Agreement.

  2. Update and modify the composition of the data available through ESTHub and the functionality of the processing environment.

  3. Perform maintenance work necessary for the operation of ESTHub, including hardware and software updates, which may cause disruptions and downtime in the environment.

  4. Suggest enhancements to the user’s computer configuration and software solutions required for ensuring ESTHub’s functionality.

  5. Terminate the user’s access to the ESTHub processing environment and cancel the agreement if it is proven that the user has violated the terms of the agreement.
  6. Collect information regarding the user's use of ESTHub, including the user’s IP address, software used within ESTHub, and computational resources utilized in ESTHub.
  7. The stored data is used solely for statistical purposes and for reporting related to the use of ESTHub. The data is processed in a non‑personalised (anonymised) form.
